Hearts and Hibs 21 goal winning margin

Post by bonxie » Tue Oct 28, 2008 10:11 pm

I noticed in the wee red book that the two Edinburgh clubs share a record wiining margin of 21 goals - Hibs beating 42nd Highlanders 22-1 in 1881 and Hearts beating Anchor 21-0. Can anyone tell me in a) what competitions they took place b) about the opposition and c) anything about the games themselves?

The ever-helpful London Hearts has the match v Anchor as an Edinburgh Cup tie

BTW welcome to the forum. I've taken the liberty of deleting the duplicate posts. But you'll find the question about McNally is still on the other forum as Brian McColl had already posted a response so I thought it best to leave it where it was.

In the dressing room before kick-off:

Private Fraser: "We're doomed, I tell ye, DOOMED!!"

I've got the match report of the Hibs match as well. I'll post it up tonight. Hearts only beat then 13-0 the same season.

As a side note according to the new St.Bernard's book, they can beat both Heats and Hibs winning margins, beating Roseberry 22-0 on the 22/9/1883 in the East of Scotland Shield
