24/4/71 is the date I'm looking at now as only 8, Div 2 fixtures were played and one of them was a rearanged fixture from the previous August. Queens Park is one of the 3 missing teams . Was it possible they were listed to play either Raith or Hamilton that day but cancelled due to a Scottish Amatuer International.

Queen's Park were originally scheduled to be at home to Montrose that day. The match was played three days earlier on Wednesday April 21st.

No Amateur international on the 24th; perhaps Hampden was required for something else that day?

Queen's Park were due to play Montrose at home that day. The other 'missing' match is Hamilton v Stenhousemuir. The team with the 'free' day was originally Raith Rovers. The other seven scheduled games went ahead as planned plus Raith v Hamilton.

The QP-Montrose game was played midweek on Apr 21st which suggests something was on at Hampden on Apr 24th but it wasn't an amateur international. The only home game that year was v England at Brockville on March 17th.

Possibly the Amateur Cup Final?

I've been trawling through all sorts of results and I've found that the British Olympic team had a trial match on Monday April 26th at Fir Park against Motherwell (a 1-0 win for the amatuers ) its possible Queens brought there game forward by 3 days to give their representatives in the side a bit more preperation, or a chance to recover from knocks etc. I guess by the principals that the Spiders were founded, Olympic selection and the Olympic cause would be high on there list of priorities.
