I stumbled across this while looking at something entirely unrelated - there hasn't been a definitive answer as to who the opposition are. Given that there appears to be a significant travelling support behind the goal, I'm wondering if it's Raith? They did win a League Cup game there 4-1 in 1956.

I showed it to FFC Club Historian Michael White and he pointed out something that neither I nor the comments ever noticed. It's definitely not FFC as they have the wrong socks.

Just a guess but I think the number 9 is Billy Simpson of Rangers perhaps a long shot I know but looks like him perhaps the camera didnt pick up the blue too well.
