In a book on the QC I have a match between Arthurlie and Arbroath, 3rd December 1898, as a two nil win for Arthurlie but in the Barrhead News report it has the score as a five nil win although it doesnt list scorers for once.
Has anyone got a record of either score for this match?
Thanks
Consolation Cup 1898-99

Two points:
The Consolation Cup in the title of the query was a totally different competition which ran from 1907-1914.
I presume the book you refer to is Stewart Davidson's 'The Scottish Qualifying Cup 1895-1995.' In the original the score of the match in question is given as 2-0 but in later years Stewart issued a four-page update alongside the original. In that the score is given as 5-0. As far as I can see there are two further Arthurlie amendments - the 1914-15 Qualifying Cup 1st round replay has no result in the original but is given as Clydebank 1 Arthurlie 2 in the update and in the 1910-11 Consolation Cup 1st round the original replay score between Arthurlie and Abercorn was 3-0 to the latter but successfully protested with Abercorn finally winning 1-0. The 3-0 match is missing from the original.
