Hope you can help. Hearts defeated Blantyre 12-1 in the Scottish Cup of 1896.

However, having been through Brian McColl' excellent database I can't find a matching entry for this Blantyre side?

Can anyone confirm details and where the match may have been played?

It could tie in with the entries for Blantyre Vics (senior/junior) though. Stuart Davidsons book on the Scottish Qualifying Cup has Blantyre entering in 95/6, 96/7 and 98/9.

Blantyre Victoria were Senior between 1895 and 1899, joining the Scottish Alliance from the Lanarkshire Junior League. After their brief tenure, they reformed as Juveniles before rejoining the Juniors in 1901. It's been suggested that 'Victoria' was dropped from the club's title during this time.

Been away from the PC for a few days but thanks for your replies.

Would this mean the tie took place at Castle Park? Had a look at the Vics website and it seems to suggest they have been there since formation.
