Re: Celtic crowd today?
I've noticed they have been very late publishing crowd figures at Parkhead this season. It's pretty pathetic when everyone else can get a figure out before the end of the game and it takes them 2 days. It's not even as if there's that many people to count these days.

Maybe they are twinned with the Florida Board of Elections?

25,000??? That's abysmal by their recent standards. No wonder they're not too forthcoming if that's the reality.bobby s wrote:I seen 25k quoted, but can't find anything offical.

Just watched the YouTube highlights and while it's difficult to make a guess, seeing as upper tiers are rarely shown, there were plenty of empty seats down the bottom behind both goals and other stands as well. But I doubt if it was as low as 25K. The daft thing is if they don't issue a figure then average gates tend to be done automatically these days so a zero will be added to their total, as has already happened on the SPL site, and their average will drop by 7,500.

Still nothing on this from anywhere?
Re: Celtic crowd today?
Still nothing from what I checked at lunchtime. It's all a bit strange.

You'd think someone from the meeja would have asked or pointed this out by now. Has anyone seen the Monday pull-outs? Was there any info there?bobby s wrote:Still nothing from what I checked at lunchtime. It's all a bit strange.
In the meantime I can't keep my records up to date not because of the lack of info from Wigtown or Newton Stewart but from Celtic!

Re: Celtic crowd today?
I have the Record and the attendance is left blank in their results section.
As an aside, are clubs under any obligation to publish attendances? I'm thinking rugby, speedway, etc. where they don't.

Some rugby crowds are published, particularly internationals and top level club games.Henry Smith wrote:As an aside, are clubs under any obligation to publish attendances? I'm thinking rugby, speedway, etc. where they don't.
For football the SFL requires figures to be submitted as does the SFA for the Scottish Cup. I can't see the SPL being any different. Whether there is an obligation to publish is another matter. At any rate Celtic's refusal to issue a figure is only feeding conspiracy theories. When I asked in all innocence on Twitter if anyone had the info I was immediately regarded as a Rangers fan trying to gloat.
Re: Celtic crowd today?
As I've said here and elsewhere this stupidity of Celtic's in not releasing a figure just makes it look worse than it actually is. Because newspaper & web averages are automated rather than done by calculator or pen and paper, Celtic, whose average was 45,873 before the weekend, have now been reduced to 38,228 on the SPL's own site thanks to the inclusion of a big fat zero for Sunday's game.
That's a drop of over 7,500 thanks to not issuing a figure. Is it deliberate? To encourage the prophets of Armageddon?

Re: Celtic crowd today?
Friends who were at the game reckoned 30,000.
Daily Mail gave 44000.
"Official" figure now being bandied-about is 25352. Figure given on Radio Clyde, apparently.
120 St Johnstone fans present.

Of course, as was mentioned in another thread, any 'official' figure - if it went by previous practice - would include all Season Tickets and other tickets sold but not used so should far exceed 25k. Not announcing anything is very puzzling.
