SCOTTISH CUP

Post by LEATHERSTOCKING » Sun May 26, 2013 7:51 pm

Two questions from quite different eras! In the 1880-81 competition 3rd Round, I have "Mauchline wo., Kilmarnock disq. after a protested game 2-1 & a 3-3 draw" but did Mauchline actually win this tie 3-0? Sorry David, I`ve mislaid your e.mail address otherwise I`d ask you directly. Next, from today`s Final, who captained Hibs & who took Brown`s armband when he was substituted?

Hibs goalie Williams was Captain. Ledley handed the Captains arm band to Paddy McCourt when he came on so i assume he was given the band by Brown?

Hello,

Glasgow Herald for November 15 - 1880 have a match report saying Mauchline won 3-0 after undecided match(es).

Yes, Brown handed the band to Ledley. The later passing of it to McCourt was a courtesy gesture as this was his last match for Celtic.

Email address, given obliquely as to put it in full risks automated spam. My first name then an at sign then this site's name without the three Ws.

Oct 23rd 1880 Mauchline 2 Kilmarnock 1. Killie protested successfully that the full 90 minutes hadn't been played
Nov 6th Mauchline 3 Kilmarnock 3
