The Airdrie Charity Cup is on display at the Summerlee Heritage Museum in Coatbridge.

It features in this Hamilton Awfycomicals picture from 1910-11 (on the left). Not sure how the Accies got their hands on it as they never won the Charity Cup. A fantastic trophy and still in good condition.

I note the newspaper headline on the bottom right about the Munich disaster. Is this a new (ish) display? I've been to Summerlee several times (even wrote an article about it lo these many years ago) but I've never seen this.

For such a minor competition, it certainly is magnificent. Today's new trophies such as the SPL's cup are pitiful in comparison.

Is it possible the trophy was latterly used for another competition, hence Accies having possession it in 1910-11?

I think it must have been used for another purpose/tournament but it still has the original name engraved on it. Not sure how it came in to Summerlee's hands either.

That display was from earlier in the summer there - not sure how recently it had been changed.
