A few more bits and pieces.

v England 1938

The other Scottish goal was scored by McMillan (Blairhall Colliery)

Referees

On looking for something else I came across something that might be a jigsaw piece in compiling the record of Scottish Junior Internationals or more specifically the referees. In the current version of the database T Robertson is credited as being a referee on 3 occasions. On searching for something that is on another thread I found that the History of the Queen’s Park Football Club 1867 – 1917 by Richard Robinson (1920) says Tom Robertson was a Junior International referee on 11 occasions. Unfortunately no match details other than Scotland v. Ireland, 6; Scotland v. Birmingham and District, 5.

As I say, someone may see this as a missing jigsaw piece.

Some further information.

1908 v Ireland

Referee - R T Murray (Stenhousemuir)

Gate receipts - £180

Source - Evening Telegraph 16 March 1908

1961 v Ireland

I have a note that this match was played under floodlights at Fir Park. I am not sure if it was the first floodlit international.

A few more bits and pieces for the Junior International records:

1935 v England

Referee Mr G Dutton (Warwick)
Source: Albion News 19th April 1935

1894 v England

The Leamington Spa Courier 10 March 1894 has the missing Scotland player and the forwards lined up slightly differently:

Outside Right Walker (Troon)
Inside Right McDonald (Benburb)
Centre Forward Baxter (Vale of Clyde)
Inside Left McDonald (Parkhead)
Outside left Mutrie (Dunfermline Juniors)

A few more thanks to Kjell's post about the Evening Telegraph's series on former players.

13 April 1912 v Wales - the spelling is "Connor (Perth Violet)" - I have seen two spellings but I have taken the biography in the Evening Telegraph as more likely to be correct.

16 March 1912 v Ireland & 23 March 1912 v England - the Right Half is the same player Bert McIntosh (Dundee Fairfield)

23 March 1912 v England - this team is as listed in the Herald before the game. It appears that John Connor(Perth Violet) played in the game and must have been a late replacement.

Hello,

This is very far off my field of knowledge but I had a look at the spreadsheet and tried a search for the 1894 missing details. The late 1894 match is noted down on 31 December, but I found the following --> In Motherwell Times, for Saturday, 22 December, 1894 - there is an advertisement for a junior international match between Scotland v Ireland on Dalziel Park for the coming Saturday - 29 December, kick off 2:30. The ad is on page 3, last column towards the bottom for those with a BNArchive subscription.

EDIT

The game you refer to HERE was a league international.

I'll update the spreadsheet with the new data.

Research continues but I thought others would be interested to know that on 19 April 1924 the England team that was to play Junior Scotland at Tynecastle had a Mr Hibbs of Tamworth Castle in goal. Scotland won 3:0!
