Queen's Park Switzerland Tour 1924
The Edinburgh Evening News from 15th May 1924 has the following snippet. "Queen's Park FC are going to Switzerland on 22d inst. They will be away for a couple of weeks, and expect to take part in three or four matches". Does anyone have any details of who they played on this tour?

Don`t have dates but they DID play St.Gallen winning 2-1 & Grasshopper in Zurich winning 3-0. There may have been more games.

Thanks for the answer Forrest. Also wondered if Queen's Park were the first Scottish side to play in Switzerland?

Probably, but, that honour surely ought to have gone to the late-lamented Rankinston Mountaineers of the South Ayrshire Junior League.

Re: Queen's Park Switzerland Tour 1924
Funnily enough while British clubs toured all over Europe (and further afield to the most exotic places) the most popular destinations were most parts of the Austro Hungarian Empire, Germany, Scandinavia, France, Spain & Italy Switzerland seems to have been largely ignored. The earliest tour there I can find was Surrey Wanderers who went there in 1900 and played 4 games. The Corinthians included 2 games(vs. Servette & Lausanne) in 1909. Two years later Celtic toured in Austro Hungary, Germany, France & had one game vs. FC Basel. In the Summer of 1914 Bradford City also played Basel in a similarly extended trip to Europe (many of their players little realising they`d soon be back). Bolton Wanderers & Rangers both toured to Europe playing games in the cantons in 1923 so Queen`s Park`s trip in 1924 was the 7th by a British side & 3rd by a Scottish one.

Funnily enough while British clubs toured all over Europe before and immediately after the First World War, the most popular destinations were large swathes of the Austro Hungarian Empire, Germany, Scandinavia, France, Spain and Italy Switzerland was a rarity. The earliest visit I can find was Surrey Wanderers` in 1900 when they played 4 games. Corinthians went to Prague in April 1909 and also played vs. Servette & Lausanne. Two years later Celtic toured Germany, Austro Hungary & France and also played FC Basel. Bradford City undertook a similarly extensive tour in 1914 and also played Basel(many of their players little realised they`d soon be across the Channel again). Bolton Wanderers and Rangers both visited Switzerland during their 1923 continental jaunt so Queen`s Park`s visit to the cantons was the 7th by a British club and the 3rd by a Scottish one.
