Half-times required

Post by Bristol Rovers » Mon Jun 15, 2015 4:55 pm

I am not far off an almost comprehensive list of the highest half-time scores in UK football. I would be happy to forward a copy of what I have to anyone genuinely interested. In the meantime, does anyone have the half-time scores for the following Scottish League games, please?

6.12.24 Helensburgh 8 Beith 4
16.11.29 Montrose 6 Stenhousemuir 6
22.11.30 Third Lanark 9 Clydebank 3
6.2.37 Airdrie 7 Brechin 5
2.1.39 Forfar 6 Dumbarton 6
20.9.47 Queen of the South 6 Falkirk 6
30.9.61 Alloa 7 Queen's Park 5
5.2.66 Stenhousemuir 5 Forfar 7
11.10.69 Falkirk 7 Queen of the South 5

Many thanks, in advance.

Does anyone here have access to local reports on the games at Helensburgh in 1925 and Third Lanark in 1930, as listed below, please? I've still not found anything more than a final score. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello BR,

I recently contacted Dumbarton Library for details of Clyde v Renton, Vale of Leven etc, and got a very good response, with high quality scans of match reports from local papers etc sent to me, so I think they might be worth a try (dumbarton.library@west-dunbarton.gov.uk). I know there's a library in Helensburgh as well, so maybe emailing both would be useful.

I'm in Glasgow tomorrow so I should be able to nip out to the Mitchell to check the Evening Times or Daily Record.

Hopefully more to follow.

Hello Stephen,

The Evening Times gives the HT scores as follows:

Third Lanark 4 Clydebank 1
Helensburgh 3 Beith 0

If you need the match reports (as far as they went in the Saturday Final) let me know.

Cheers

How about

21 October 1905 East Stirling 4(4) Clyde (3)4
18 October 1931 Aberdeen (6)8 Clyde (1)1

And then there's the Glasgow Cup Final of 1968, where a very lucky Celtic side were only leading the mighty Bully Wee by seven goals to nil at half time - just as well you're only looking at league matches!!!!!
