University football
Can anyone help me in locating records of matches played by Edinburgh University in the British Universities football competition in the late 1960's/early 1970's?
As ever, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: University football
As far as I know, they didn't play in British competitions, just the Scottish ones (eg Queen's Park Shield).
In the British Universities, it was a combined Scottish Universities side that took part. Scotland won it regularly: 1966-1969 inclusive, 1972, 1973, 1977, 1978, 1980 etc.

Re: University football
Thanks Andy. I think it must be the Scottish Universities winning sides of 1966 to 1969 where I am looking for the results that took them to victory.

Re: University football
With thanks to Andy and Brian I have been able to narrow down my search. It is the results for the Scottish Universities team that won the British Universities title in the 1967/68 Season that I am trying to find.
Eight university teams entered and were divided into two pools. It appears the pool matches were not played on a home & away basis but as a single match. I not not sure what happened after the pool matches but given the time in the academic year perhaps the final was played between the two Pool winners?
I have found a report in the Glasgow Herald of 28 March 1968 that gives the results of all the second round of Pool matches played on 27 March 1968 and a match report of the Scottish game (Steve Heighway played against them!) Despite looking backwards and forwards on the Herald archive I am not having much luck finding the other Scottish results.
This is what I have:
Pool A
27 March 1968 Northern Ireland 1 London 2
27 March 1968 Scotland 1 UAU (North) 0
Pool B
27 March 1968 UAU (South) 3 Oxford 1
27 March 1968 Cambridge 0 Wales 0

Re: University football
Many thanks Jeroen for the speedy reply.
That makes sense to play the competition over consecutive days - perhaps the Easter University break?
Much appreciated.

Re: University football
Thanks "prorege". I see Brian McColl has added your new information to his new page covering the British University Championship on the Scottish Football Historical Archive. I have now found most of the details for the 1967 competition won by Scotland and sent it to Brian. Another example of Scottish football's Annus Mirabilis of 1967.
