I have obtained a programme from the Newcastle KB United v Dundee match played on 17th May 1978, in Newcastle, New South Wales. I believe the score was 2-1 to the home side.

What were the other matches on this tour? there's not much about it in the programme, and I can't find out much about it on the internet.

The Glasgow Herald on 22 May 1978 reported:

Dundee scored a 1-0 win against Queensland in Brisbane yesterday after being outclassed for much of the match. Dundee eventually found the net in 78 minutes when Billy Williamson headed in a corner kick by Ian Redford.

I have the match programme for the two games against Auckland ( a single programme for both games ) the first game was against Auckland Province X1, made up of players from Auckland based clubs and included ex Dundee Utd keeper Sandy Davie ( sub goalkeeper ) and ex Cambuslang Rangers,Scottish Junior cup winner & prolific goalscorer Keith Nelson and Ian Ormond nephew of Willie . The second match 2 days later at the same venue was against an Auckland Invitation X1 which was a defacto New Zealand X1 includind players from South Island based clubs and also some British players who's New Zealand citizenship was still being processed . The Scottish connection here was the 3 previously mentioned players plus Alf Stamp ex Queens Park & Partick Thistle and Preston born Steve Sumner who four years later scored one of New Zealand's two goals against Scotland at the 82 World Cup in Spain. Steve sadly passed away here in Christchurch 3 months ago from cancer. My brother in law played for Queensland against Dundee in the same tour and was contacted by Tommy Gemmell and invited to Dundee for a months trial but my BIL wanted his wifes airfare payed too and Dundee would not agree to it and that killed the deal. I know he was on good money in Brisbane and the lifestyle is great and Dundee would have had to offer something special for him to move, which I couldnt see Dundee offering anyway. He still has the letter from Gemmell . On another note Dundee played in NZ in 1972 and people who saw them on that tour have told me they were the best footballing side to visit these shores and that incudes Man Utd of Best Law & Charlton.

I may have a programme involving the Lions/City select side played against Newcastle KB United from the 1978 season, I'll have a look.
