Willie Bell (East Fife and Cowdenbeath)

Postby Angusfifer » Wed May 24, 2017 11:47 am

There was a Willie Bell who played for Raith Rovers in 1921-22, also turned out twice on loan for East Fife that season.

Does anyone know if this is the same Willie Bell who was on the books of East Fife (1906-1909 & 1913-1916) and Cowdenbeath (1909-1912) ?

It looks like two different players:

John Litster’s disk has:

William A Bell, a centre half, joining Cowdenbeath from East Fife on 30 May 1909 and was with them until 1912/13.

William Bell, a centre forward, signing for Raith Rovers from Rosslyn Juniors on 28 October 1920 and was with them, with a loan spell at East Fife, until 1922/23. Newspaper reports after he signed for Raith Rovers only mention his previous time at Rosslyn and before that at Kinghorn Athletic and a trial game for Rangers A in October 1920. He was described as “a young lad”.

Thanks for that Bluedragon. Agreed, the "young lad" reference would certainly suggest that...
