Jimmy Frame - Rangers and Dumbarton

Postby HibeeJibee » Tue Aug 29, 2017 10:07 pm

This forward - full name James Buchanan Frame - was born on 22nd October 1929... He signed for Rangers from Clydebank Juniors in September 1948 but only seems to have made 1 first-team appearance the month before (as a trialist?), probably as he was on national service: he played for the British Army v England in November 1949, suggesting he was fairly handy.

He signed for Dumbarton in December 1950 and was a regular over the next 3 seasons, scoring 24 goals in 62 games, winning the St Mungo Quaich (and a Stirlingshire Cup).

He then joined Worcester of the Southern League in September 1953.

Anyone know what subsequently happened to him, and if he's still alive?

Jimmy Frame signed for Worcester City in September 1953. He made an immediate impact scoring five goals in his first three games. In the 1953/54 season he only missed one match after joining the club and finished as top goal scorer with 18 goals. Jimmy only made 5 appearances (2 goals) in the 1954/55 season with Frank Hodgetts, signed from Millwall, laying claim to the right wing berth. Jimmy moved to Wisbech Town, a Midland League club, in the close season.
