Scores of Scotland X1 matches

Programme also states Frank Munro of Dundee United as traveling reserve player and was John Prentices first game in charge of Scotland when in fact he was in charge a few weeks earlier in the match against England at Hampden.

Who was in charge of these Scotland Xl sides, the SFA or just private individuals? Did the Scotland sides turn out with the SFA badge on their shirts? Do the players involved earn the right to be included in a list of unofficial unoffical internationalists?

I only ever saw one of these games - the late Willie Maddren's testimonial match in 1978. Ally McLeod was definitely in charge of selection and the game was billed as Middlesbrough v the Scotland World Cup squad. Incidentally, that match gave me the clearest indication possible that Argentina wasn't going to be the cakewalk many expected. Friendly or not any side that allowed Billy 'head-like-a-threepenny-bit' Ashcroft to score a hat-trick was going to be in trouble.

Leicester = Shilton, Rodrigues, Norman, Cross, Sjoberg, Appleton, Matthews, Goodfellow, Dougan, Gibson & Sinclair. Subs =? sc.Dougan.
Scotland = Ferguson(Kilmarnock), Hamilton(Dundee), Shewan(Aberdeen), Stanton(Hibs), Anderson(A)(Hearts), Smith(D)(Aberdeen), Hunter(Motherwell), Penman(Dundee), Scott(Hibs), Wallace(Hearts), McParland(Partick Th.). Subs =? sc.Penman.
Do we know if these were the final teams or just those listed in the programme?

Just a minor correction to the LCFC line-up v Scotland, quoted earlier in this thread: two subs were indeed used.

Peter Shilton, Peter Rodrigues, Richie Norman, Graham Cross, John Sjoberg (Max Dougan), Colin Appleton, Paul Matthews (Alan Tewley), Jimmy Goodfellow, Derek Dougan, Davie Gibson, Jackie Sinclair.

Scorer was Derek Dougan

18 November 1945 v Combined Services in Hamburg
There were two fixtures played in a brief tour as follows:

Saturday 17 November
At Celle
Combined Services XI 2 (Westcott, McKennan), Scottish FA XI 4 (Delaney 2, Walker 2)

Sunday 18 November
At Hamburg
BAOR Combined Services XI 1 (Westcott), Scottish FA XI 1 (Garth)

If anyone has the line-ups for either game I would be grateful if you could post them here.
