Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire Junior Internationalists
We now only have six Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire Junior Internationalists without a forename. Can anyone help please? The players are:
Cotton (Aberdeen Argyle) 1926
Paterson (Aberdeen Argyle) 1926
Ross (Inverurie Loco Works) 1993
Tough (Mugiemoss) 1911
Turnbull (Aberdeen Sunnybank) 1981
Webster (Banks o'Dee) 1926
Thank you.

The Locos player was Cammy Ross.
Not certain of any of the others. There were several Turnbull's in the North Juniors at the time but I cannot tie one to Sunnybank at that time, I'm afraid.

Thanks Prorege. I missed a player from my original list. He was Alexander (Inverurie Locos Works) 1993 who played in the same SJFA side against a Rangers XI in 1993 as Cammy Ross.prorege wrote:The Locos player was Cammy Ross.

That was Iain Alexander who was with Inverurie from 1990 until 1999 before joining Cove Rangers.

Thanks again Prorege. That means that overall of the Post-War line-ups we know Sureitza and I are only looking for forenames of five players and we also need clubs for two of those.prorege wrote:That was Iain Alexander who was with Inverurie from 1990 until 1999 before joining Cove Rangers.
1. Marr (Shotts Bon Accord) 1994
2. Turnbull (Sunnybank) 1981
3. J McKenzie (Stonehouse Violet) 1949
4. Denholm (Unknown) 1971
5. Harkins (Unknown) 1979

Re: Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire Junior Internationalists
There is no mention of a player called Marr in the Shotts BA history around that time, or of any player being capped in 1994. Was he perhaps from another club?
The McKenzie of Stonehouse Violet in 1949 was Donnie (Donald Cameron) Mackenzie, who signed for Rangers that summer and went on to play for Arbroath via Grimsby.

Re: Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire Junior Internationalists
I have no record of a Marr at Shotts in 93/4 or 94/5. They did have a Billy Muir in 1992/3 but he was not a regular starter.
However, I have a Lewis Marr with Bon Accord JFC (from Aberdeen) in 1993/4. I expect he is your man.
The only Denholm I have in Junior football in 1970/1 and 1971/2 is Robert Denholm of Fauldhouse United.
In 1978/9 the only two Harkins listed are both James Harkins, one with Glasgow Perthshire and one with Linlithgow Rose. When Camelon signed the Linlithgow James Harkins in 1982 they described him as a Junior internationalist. The Perthshire one seems to have moved on to St Rochs by that time.

Many thanks indeed!
Lewis Marr (Bon Accord) – we had another player where his club was given as the wrong Bon Accord.
Jim Harkins (Linlithgow Rose) – someone else had thought it was the Rose player but wasn’t sure he had played for the SJFA. However, the programme note gives the corroboration. I think the St Rochs' Harkins was a goalkeeper that further confirms we now have the right man.
Donnie Mackenzie (Stonehouse Violet) – we had the wrong initial and incorrect spelling of his surname.
Robert Denholm (Fauldhouse United) – we were chasing a player of the surname with a possible Pumpherston connection. This sounds like our man.
