I am looking for more facts about Stephen McEwan (born 28/3-1930 in Bonhill, Selkirk). He signed for Liverpool from Bournemouth in 1950, but only played for "A" team. Free transfer in 1951. Played 2 league games for Accrington in Autumn 1951. Reported that he went back to Scotland in November that year. Did he play football in Scotland?
I think that Steve McEwan was born in Bonhill, West Dunbartonshire. He played for Bournemouth while on National Service. Several league clubs were interested in the 6ft 11st inside forward. In December 1951, after his short time at Accrington Stanley, he signed for Nelson who were vying for the Lancashire Combination title at the time. In December 1952 there was a McEwan playing at half-back for Lancashire Combination Second Division club Bacup Borough that might possibly be your man. He was still in his early twenties at this time so may have returned to Scotland later but the Lancashire Combination may be a good place to pick up some leads.
