He played for Old Aberdeen Liverpool (1923-25), Tranmere (1925/26) and St Johnstone 1926/27. He was only 26 years in 1927. Did he play for other clubs?

And when did he play his 5 games for St Johnstone? Was he injured? Other work after football?

He played the first five league games of the season for St Johnstone and was then dropped to the reserves. In December 1926 he suffered a badly broken ankle in a reserve match in Aberdeen and was taken to hospital.

If you search 'Willie Chalmers' there is a bit about him signing for Saints in the summer of 1926.

Also, in January and February 1928 there are reports in the Perthshire Advertiser of a court case in which he sued St Johnstone for compensation. It is pretty clear from those reports that he was unable to play again.
