William McCann

Post by J.S.Norway » Fri May 22, 2020 9:03 pm

A man named William McCann died 8/10-1904 in Royal Alexander Infirmary, Paisley, Renfrewshire. Was he the ex goalkeeper who played for Abercorn (1892-94) & Liverpool (1894/95) + also had a trial match for Scotland?

IThat matches the information I've got for the Abercord man. Unfortunately I don't have a date/place of birth for him

It is very difficulty. There was 2 William McCann playing football for Stratclyde and Abercorn in the mid 1890s. The goalkeeper and a forward. I don`t know if the LFC player returned to Scotland. Most of the LFC players did so after they had played their last football match in England. I see there is a William McCann in census 1901 living in Liverpool with his wife and 2 children. Born in Glasgow. Married 1894 in Liverpool. I will buy his marriage certificate.
