Info on Thomson Allan

Post by Northfield Hibby » Thu Aug 31, 2006 5:35 pm

Just wondering if someone could help me with some info. This is for a Falkirk supporter who is doing research on ex players. Is it possible to have the details like team line ups, scores etc etc, from Thomson Allan's games for Hibs in europe. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. Thomson Allan played in nine European ties, all in the Fairs/Uefa Cup - five for Hibs and four for Dundee.

For Hibs he played in both legs of the 1st round tie v Porto in 1967-68 - a 3-0 win at Easter Road on Sep 20th 1967 (Allan, Duncan, Davis, Stanton, Madesn, McGraw, Scott (Grant), Quinn, Stein, Cormack, Stevenson) and a 3-1 defeat away (same team but no sub) on Oct 4th. He played in the first leg 4-1 defeat away to Napoli (1-9 as before then Grant, O'Rourke) on Nov 22nd. Willie Wilson played in the return which Hibs won 5-0 and also in both 3rd round games v Leeds United.

Wilson was also the keeper v Olimpia Ljubjlana and Lokomotiv Leipzig in 1968-69 with Allan coming in for both legs v Hamburg in the 3rd round. Hibs lost 1-0 away (Allan, Shevlane, Stanton, Madsen, Davis, Cousin, Quinn, O'Rourke, McBride, Cormack, Stevenson) on Dec 18th 1968 and won 2-1 ( as before except Duncan for Shevlane and Quinn for O'Rourke) at Easter Road on Jan 15th 1969, going out on the away goals rule.
