Do you know the reason I asked?

http://www.londonhearts.com/scotland/ga ... 40327.html

That game you list as Davie Hay mon capitain, yet, the SFA website lists Erich Schaedler, a debutant, as captain:

Any theories? Conspiracy ones preferred obviously :D

I've checked it with Richard Keir's Book.

Gives Davie Hay as Captain as well.

No conspiracy theories just facts!

Seems very unlikely that ES was captain in his only game, given the presence of his club captain and Martin Buchan in the team as well as DH.

The SFA archive's a marvellous resource but they occasionally get it wrong. They had Billy Liddell down as playing left wing at Wembley in 1947 when it was actually Tommy Pearson.

It was spotted by a Scotland fan from Florence of all places. In this instance they surely have to be wrong. I have the captain as Hay as well. And in addition to Richard Keir's book, Andrew Ward's 'Scotland The Team' gives Hay as well.

I'll send a link to this page to Andy Mitchell at the SFA. He'll correct the archive if it's wrong.

Mistakes happen, and it would be good if Mr Mitchell could post here.

Erich, of course had a german father, so whilst I have no doubts that the information you have is correct, I would also be none too surprised if it turned out he had captained the side.
