Derby- The worst ever?
Derby County after yesterdays defeat are now assured of the lowest premiership points total ever. Got me thinking however have there ever been poorer teams than Derby in Englands top flight, a quick look through the league tables tells us that noone has ever won less than 3 games before in Englands top flight- Derby can win 2 at most. Also only 2 teams can equal or beat Derby's points total if Derby lose on the last day-
P W D L Pts
2007-08 Derby 38 1 8 29 11
1891-92 Darwen 26 4 3 17 11
1889-90 Stoke 22 3 4 15 10
Given that Stoke and Darwen totals were achieved from fewer games and in the era of 2 points for a win, it looks like Derby could have the worst english top flight record ever in 1 weeks time.
As a side note this would also mean that Newcastle under Allerdyce failed to beat the worst team ever in english top flight football home or away.

If you treat them all as three for a win Darwen have 15 and Stoke 13 and if two for a win then Derby just ten. I think irrespective of the outcome of their last match Derby have to go down as the worst top flight side ever. It's the lowest points per match tally of any club regardless of whether you apply two or three points for a win.
