Swedish & Dutch Football

Post by nightfire » Fri Jun 25, 2010 9:57 pm

Does anybody know if there are Swedish and Dutch books that are the equivalent of the Rothmans Book of Football?

I'm looking for match by match results including goalscorers for specific clubs in the late 1980s and early to mid 1990s

These downloads might help. Can't say for certain as they're not Mac-compatible.

The European Football Yearbook gives results and scorers plus a summary of appearances. I'm not sure how far back it goes. I have the 1988-89 edition which I think is the first or second.

There may also be Dutch and/or Swedish newspapers which allow free access to back issues.

This site might help

You can try http://leiden.courant.nu/ or http://www.dekrantvantoen.nl/ Somewhere in the next 18 months De Telegraaf wil be added here http://kranten.kb.nl/ The Dutch Royal Library (KB) has plans to add historical magazines like Sportkroniek in the distant future as well. Access will be free , Sites like www.vi.nl or www.elfvoetbal.nl contain errors

There are yearsbook as well in the Netherlands :Samson Voetbaljaarboek (no details of individual matches in the first edition covering the 1978-79 season), and Voetbal het complete naslagwerk covering the 1980 up to the 1990-91 season. No yearbooks were published between 1991 and the 2002-03 Voetbal Jaarboek published by Infostrada/ Arko sports.

The 1988-89 edition of the European Football Yearbook covering the 1987-88 and 1987 season(Sweden) is the first one. The next one is the 91-92 edition.

I've got a copy of Fotboll Boken 1995 described as the Swedish Rothman's. That was a bit disappointing: summaries only and career stats of top level players.
There should be other books (Elitfotbollen?) but I haven't got them. I know detailed statistical records from the Allsvenskan exist, even the very early seasons, but I can't find titel etc.. at the moment

Thanks for that guys.

I'm looking at plugging a few gaps on goals scored by Henrik Larsson in his early Swedish Career and in some games for Feyenoord
