Football clubs becoming limited companies
Football clubs becoming limited companies
Partick Thistle became a limited company after a committee meeting in April 1903.
Is there an online resource that details when other clubs became limited companies? I'm particularly interested to know about the other First Division clubs - Hibernian, Dundee, Rangers, Heart of Midlothian, Celtic, St Mirren, Third Lanark, Kilmarnock, Port Glasgow Athletic, and Morton.
Thanks.

Kilmarnock 1906, Rangers I think 1899, as that's the company that's being liquidated.

Thanks David
A quick Google reveals the following info:
Hibernian 1903
Rangers 1899
Heart of Midlothian 1903
Celtic 1897
Third Lanark 1903
Partick Thistle 1903
Kilmarnock 1906
Morton 1896
Still looking for info on Dundee, St Mirren & Port Glasgow Athletic. I assume that Queen's Park never became a limited company?

Not what was asked, but I read today that Nottingham Forest became a Limited Company in 1982, the last English League club to do so.
"He took about half an hour to do it, but he did it!"

That used to be one of these facts trotted out in books and magazines for years - Which is the only league club not a limited company? - often in the same page as - Which is the only amateur club in league football?

Meadowbank Thistle Football Club became Meadowbank Thistle Football Club Ltd in 1993.
The company subsequently changed it's name to the current Livingston Football Club Ltd in 2002, obviously quite some time after the team on the park.
