In the 1886/1887 Scottish Cup, Hibs played and beat Durhamstown Rangers.
Where on earth is Durhamstown, anyone know/help please? There's a place called Durhamstown in the Irish republic - surely not?

According to a stray mention in an 1886 edition of the Edinburgh Evening News, it is/was "near Bathgate". Two other near contemporaneous mentions on the BNA site of other Durhamstown Rangers fixtures, but not the Hibs game.
Re: Durhamstown Rangers 1880s
Durhamtown (note the spelling) was a mining area about a mile south of Bathgate on the Whitburn Road.
Durhamtown Rangers were formed in 1883, changing their name to Erin Rovers in 1887. A year later they merged with Bathgate Volunteers to form Bathgate Rovers which disbanded in 1893.

As others have said, it’s now an area of Bathgate although in those days it probably sat separate. If you class it as part of Bathgate in those days I think Bathgate had two senior teams at the time.

Durhamtown was located where the Birniehill area of Bathgate is today.
