Noticed that the BBC again distinguished themselves with their Scottish Cup coverage yesterday.
A catch-all report included the news that Glenafton Athletic had won their first ever Scottish Cup tie in their debut meeting with Threave Rovers. The reporter appeared oblivious to the fact that the New Cumnock side had already defeated both Newton Stewart and Golspie Sutherland in earlier rounds.
Those BBC reporters must get awfully confused when confronted with covering the First Round of the Scottish Cup....surely nothing can possibly have preceded the FIRST Round!
Poor journalism!

Re: Scottish Cup
SFA's coverage on twitter etc. was actually pretty good (a few years ago they were getting justified pelters for barely recognising R1 existed) - but even they fell into the same trap e.g. at one point I think they talked about Edusport having their first-ever tie. Also I temper too hearty congratulations, given the compere during the R1 draw announced "Whitehall Welfare" and "Vale of Leven"!
BBC radio apparently had someone at Spartans v Vale on the Friday, and at Glenafton v Threave on the Saturday. However their match listings never even had Threave as the opponent - not having realised their replay v Glasgow Uni had been completed - and carried all the ties as Saturday 3pm. There is an unfortunate tardiness until SPFL clubs join, it seems.

Re: Scottish Cup
Presumably Connie McLaughlin and Gordon Duncan's YouTube round up was broadcast on Sportscene?
According to the latter:
"Colville Park made history on Saturday as they became the first amateur team to progress to the second round of the Scottish Cup"
Misinform. Miseducate. Entertain.

Re: Scottish Cup
Yep, I was observing this over on P&B. Even if you restrict it to SAFA clubs, it's been done several times since the cup went 'all in' again in 2007-08, by Burntisland (before they joined EOSL) and Glasgow Uni.
They're the first amateur qualifier to reach R2 - and indeed R1 - but they're only the second amateur qualifier full-stop!
