He played 1 match for Scotland 29/3-1890. His debut was 1 week before his 20th birthday. Was he the youngest Scotland player at that time?

No, far from it.

17-year-old John Lambie was capped in 1886.

Before 1890 there were five 18-year-olds: Fred Anderson, Robert Christie, John Robertson Gow, James Tassie Richmond and William Sellar.

And several aged 19.
