Juniper Green

I noticed that Cinneide came up with a reference to this some time ago:

I also read that Walker had disappointed Hearts with his performances and was training at Juniper Green (Scottish Sport 03/01/1899). Was Juniper Green connected with Hearts, or another Edinburgh team?

Today I found another reference in the Edinburgh Evening News from the same era - this being a report that Hearts were spending too much on sending players to Juniper Green. Does anyone know what went on there? It would seem to be either a training ground for the players (although why report that someone was training there?) or a sort of rehabilitation centre, something similar to Allison's Football Hospital in Manchester which existed around the same time. Any firm information would be of interest.
