I recently was sent scans of this Autograph Book from 1938-39

https://londonhearts.com/images/bobbyja ... utomap.htm

Thanks to Ian McConnel - June 2020

"I was recently loaned an autograph book belonging to a 90 year old gentleman (Mr Bobby Johnstone) of my acquaintance. The book covers the seasons 1937-38 to 1938-39.

It was given to him by his Grandfather who knew Tommy Walker the Hearts player and Scottish Internationalist. Mr Walker was kind enough to take it to every game he played in those seasons and get the opposition to sign it for the young Bobby.

The book has over 20 teams within its pages ranging from Scotland international teams to Junior teams."

I've identified all the players in the book and the games involved.

That's a fascinating find.

For the League of Ireland v Scottish League game on Friday 17th March 1939 assumption would be Bobby Bolt of Falkirk was travelling reserve and George Stevenson was trainer? It was first time a Scottish side formed the opposition in the St Patricks Day representative game. LofI managed a shock 2-1 win.

Stevenson had been a regular for Scotland and Scottish League in late 1920s/early 1930s.

Bolt was selected for the SFA tour of Canada and USA at the end of the season - as were Dawson, Carabine and Dykes - and got a chance to play in Dublin the following spring, for Scotland (aka Glasgow FA) in a war international v Eire.
