Re: Record attendance oddities
David Ross analysed Clyde's record in some detail in his book The Roar of the Crowd, and pointed out that this figure for 1908 only appeared several years later, and it was indeed 18,000. He says the record for Shawfield was probably another Clyde v Rangers, the Scottish Cup tie on 10 February 1912,...

Re: Player enquiry
John Christie played for Rangers on a fairly regular basis 1879 to 1882 then went to Bolton.
I can't see any contemporary evidence for 'John' but he is named on several Rangers websites.

Re Tommy Gibb in Hong Kong, he played in every match of the tour according to Frank Clark's article in the Newcastle Journal, 5 June 1972.

Re: Pelé and the Scots
Davie Provan (ex Rangers and Scotland) was in the Plymouth Argyle team in 1973. Hugh Reed (born Dumbarton) was an unused sub. I think they were the only two Scots in the squad.

Re: Fastest Scotland international goal
With so many more sources now available on BNA and elsewhere, I've been revisiting the fastest goals. I think this is never going to be definitive because of a lack of video evidence in most cases, and discrepancies between newspapers, but this is my take on Scotland's first minute goals, in order: ...

Re: Tom Miller
He returned to Scotland in the summer of 1915 and played briefly as an amateur for Royal Albert in the Western League but was prevented from joining Hamilton by an SFA rule that would have required him to sign a professional form. There was also a report in August that he might play for Wishaw Thist...

Not as far as I know, not listed with either club. He was briefly with Clachnacuddin in the autumn of 1945 while stationed with the RAF, but that seems to be his only Scottish connection.

Maybe Blair Currie and Max Currie. Both have been playing in the SPFL for the last few years. Not sure if they have crossed paths on the pitch, though.

There have certainly been other matches abandoned since 1995. A couple that spring to mind: Aberdeen v Motherwell in 2016 and Raith Rovers v Dunfermline just a year ago in August 2021: https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/19532254.raith-rovers-reveal-details-investigation-dunfermline-clash-abandoned/

Re: Archie Ritchie (1872-1932)
I wrote about him last month, after another researcher found his gravestone and pointed out that the dates did not match the 1872 birth. After checking, I found that the boy born in Kirkcaldy in 1872 died aged 11 weeks of smallpox. And that led me to the correct identity. See https://www.scottishspo...
