He played in Scotland as a guest during WW2.

Dunfermline
1942/43 8 games/1 goal
1943/44 11 games/1 goal
1944/45 1 game

Bearing in mind that the North-Eastern League was split into two separate "series", here are the relevant appearances for Dunfermline:

1942/43 (Second Series)
First: 13 February - Dunfermline 3 Raith Rovers 0
Last: 17 April - Dunfermline 3 Dundee United 1

He then played in two Mitchell Cup ties:
3 April - Dunfermline 1 Aberdeen 2
10 April - Aberdeen 3 Dunfermline 2

1943/44 (First Series - 7 in total)
First: 14 August - Aberdeen 7 Dunfermline 2
Last: 23 October - Falkirk 'A' 3 Dunfermline 2

1943/44 (Second Series - 4 in total)
First: 8 January - Dunfermline 1 Aberdeen 2
Last: 29 January - Dunfermline 1 East Fife 0

1944/45 (First Series)
2 September - Dunfermline 2 Dundee United 2

A little more background on his two appearances for East Fife.

Jim Harley took part in the raid on Dieppe in August 1942 and had returned home to Methil on leave from the Royal Navy just before he played for East Fife. He was later Mentioned in Despatches. Before this he had been involved in the evacuation from Dunkirk. With other members of the crew of his ship, he was responsible for transporting soldiers off the beach by small boat back to the ship lying at anchor.

There was a report that while he was on leave Dundee Junior club, Stobswell, were trying to get him to play for them in a Junior Cup tie. I cannot confirm if he played but he did not turn out for East Fife against Hibernian that day.

12 September 1942 Stobswell 2 Jeanfield Swifts 6
