Willie Bremner (1925-1987) played for Jeanfield Swifts, Liverpool res., Cowdenbeath, Raith Rovers, Jeanfield Swift (again) & Arbroath just after WW2. He played for Cowdenbeath in Aug.1945. In which matches? He left Arbroath in Nov.1952. He was only 27 years than. Did he play for other clubs? What happend to him later?

Prior to joining Swifts he played for Scone in the Perth City Boys FA.

He also played for Dundee United in 1944/5.

In the late 80s and early 1990s Swifts held an annual invitation 4-team tournament called the Bill Bremner Trophy, featuring 3 invited clubs and themselves.

I attended it on several occasions and I'm sure the programme had a detailed bio of Bremner. Don't have them any more.

He is not listed in David Allan's definitive who's who of Cowdenbeath, which infers that he didn't play in the first team.

However, he did play in one game for Cowdenbeath, v Stenhousemuir on 11 August 1945. He was also in Cowdenbeath's pre-season public trial match the previous week.

Bill Bremner was released by Arbroath at his own request in November 1952. He played in a friendly as a trialist for Montrose against Dundee United A on 6 December 1952 but nothing came of it.

Thank you!! Do you know which games he played for Dundee United in 1944/45? I have seen his posision as center half. But in the 2 Central League matches he played for Liverpool he played left half.
